A blue tile backsplash takes over one whole wall. Veneto glass tiles from Stone Source. Heavy-duty marine lights about island from Architrove. Deschutes sconces from Rejuvenation. The Pere Tranquille bistro stools from Annick de Lorme are made in France and can be customized in various colors and patterns. Baskets under the island hold large platters and the lobster pot. All paint in the kitchen is Ralph Lauren Paint's Pocket Watch White.

Sunlit Countertops
"The blue-and-white palette feels beachy, summery, and clean, clean, clean," says Marshall Watson, the designer. White Manhattan Calacatta marble on the countertops blends in with the whitepainted cabinetry. Window shades are made of an indoor-outdoor fabric from Sonia's Place.

The upper cabinets are faced with ribbed Skytech glass from Robert E. Otto, which veils the contents.

The 2-by-6-inch glass tiles, laid in a traditional running bond, reminded Watson of sea glass: "You don't find it much anymore, with all the plastic bottles and cans."

The gooseneck faucet by Dornbracht is handy for filling a tall lobster pot. The professional-style stainless-steel Garland range is paired with a Rangemaster hood.
